In conjunction with UL Student Life and the Postgraduate Students’ Union, the University administers a Financial Aid Fund. The fund is supported by gifts from UL Alumni through the UL Foundation’s Alumni Annual Fund Appeal and through UL Student Capitation. This scheme is designed to help students who experience short-term financial problems. If a student qualifies for assistance, she/he will receive an interest free loan which is repayable in full prior to graduation. Additionally, student parents who are experiencing financial difficulties can apply for a Childcare Bursary to support them with their childcare/child-minder costs.
If you are experiencing financial difficulty and wish to apply for either a loan or a childcare bursary, you can contact Fr John Campion, UL Chaplain in Room CM071 in the Main Building, or email john.campion@ul.ie to make an appointment.
Any postgraduate student wishing to avail of either type of funding can email psupresident@ul.ie for an appointment. Application forms and further information are also available from the Welfare Officer in UL Student Life or the Student Information and Support Coordinators, email: studentsupport@ul.ie..
The Mature Student Office provides advice on scholarships and funding available to mature students to finance their studies. For further information please visit the MSO website.
The objective of the Student Assistance Fund (SAF) is to provide financial support to both full-time and part-time undergraduate or postgraduate students in need of such support. The fund is intended to support students whose participation in higher education would otherwise be at risk as a direct result of financial difficulties.
The SAF supports students who are experiencing difficulty in meeting the day-to-day expenses associated with attending college, or who encounter unforeseen circumstances resulting in short or longer-term financial difficulties, (e.g. family difficulties, bereavement, accidents or health problems).
For full details please visit the Access Office website or contact the office directly on T: 061-213104 or E: SAF@ul.ie
