The School of Law warmly congratulates each of our 14 Law students who received a President’s Volunteer Award on Thursday 28th September in recognition of their outstanding contribution in serving the Presidents Volunteer Awards campus and wider community in a voluntary capacity over the past 12 months. The Award ceremony has been introduced to harness, acknowledge and support the extraordinary contribution that students at the University of Limerick make to their communities The students were honoured for their engagement in a wide range of volunteer activities such as working with UL's Community Liaison Office and UL’s Student Union Clubs and Societies. Initiatives were organised through Enactus UL, the Law Society, International Education, Limerick’s Gateway to Education, Youth Suicide Prevention, Mark Pollock Trust, and the Irish Red Cross, among others. The guest speaker at the ceremony was Aoibheann O’Brien, co-founder of not-for-profit social enterprise FoodCloud, which connects businesses with too much food with charities that can redistribute. Aoibheann is a former Law and Accounting student at UL. It is a remarkable achievement that so many law students were honoured at the award ceremony and is a wonderful testament to the volunteering spirit of our students and former students.
