The President of UL, Dr Des Fitzgerald, announced today that this year’s winner of UL’s institutional awards for excellence in teaching is Dr Kathryn O'Sullivan. Kathryn is based in the School of Law, Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. He went on to note: “Over her relatively short career as a third level teacher, Kathryn has show an exemplary commitment to enhancing the student learning experience, which has been wide reaching, substantial and impactful. She has been a key driver of curriculum development within her discipline and has led the internationalisation agenda within her school, resulting in a significant increase in international students coming to UL to study law. Her own passion for professional development is evident in her many local and national achievements in engaging in successful funding bids, and for receiving prestigious external awards as part of the School of Law team.” This year the award panel included academic extern, Dr Kelly Coate, (King’s College London) and extern for the student perspective, Cat O’Driscoll (Co-ordinator of Ireland’s national student engagement programme). A presentation award will be made by the President to Kathryn later in the year.
