Stephen Strauss-Walsh attended the Foucault in Ireland Symposium at The Royal Irish Academy on the 24th of March 2017, delivering a paper entitled ‘Victimiology from a Foucaultdian Perspective’. His intention was to outline Foucault’s contribution to Victimological discourse. This involved evidencing how Foucaultdian concepts can be utilised to critically engage with the discipline. The paper waswell received by an amicable audience, promoting debate on when exactly the novel label of ‘the victim’ emerged and on the theme of victimhood more generally.
