Dr Laura Cahillane on the rights of adopted persons to their identity
On Thursday 16th January Dr Cahillane spoke about the constitutional issues involved in the debate surrounding adopted persons and the right to access their birth certs and other records on Morning Ireland. You can listen back here: https://www.rte.ie/radio/utils/share/radio1/21893163
She also made a brief appearance on Virgin Media’s Tonight Show before the studio lost internet and Dr Cahillane was unable to make her contribution but she later tweeted her views on the fact that a referendum is not needed to allow for adopted persons to access their records, contrary to the view expressed by the last Attorney General.
Today it has been reported that the current Attorney general agrees that a referendum will not be necessary and a Bill will soon be published.
