Professor Friel met with the PhD students under his supervision together with co-supervisors in a forum where they can share their work to date on their research and discuss areas of common interest. These meetings which take place once a semester bring together a growing group of students pursuing doctoral research in the broader commercial law area under Friel’s supervision. Present at this meeting were PhD candidates Gerry Greaney (IP and Trade Secrets), Karen O’Brien (Insolvency law), David Martin (Shadow Banking) and Ruhi Anand (International Trade Organisations). The group were also notified about two new PhD candidates that will be joining the group this semester: Alan Danagher (Artificial Intelligence) and Hussain Alobaidi (Corporate Responsibility). The group went for lunch after the event
