Presentation at Society of Legal Scholars Conference
Dr Lydia Bracken presented a research paper at the Society of Legal Scholars Conference in Queen Mary University of London on 7th September 2018. The Society of Legal Scholars Conference is a prominent annual event in law that provides an unrivalled opportunity for networking and dialogue with international legal experts.
Lydia’s paper was entitled “Recognising Multiple Parent Families in Ireland.” The paper considered whether Irish law could or should recognise more than two legal parents in certain cases. This analysis was based on the findings of a research trip undertaken by Lydia to the University of Victoria, British Columbia in June 2018. The research trip was supported by the UL International Activity Challenge Fund. The paper constituted the first step in the dissemination of findings from the research trip and provided an opportunity to discuss the research with leading scholars in the field of child and family law in order to refine the arguments presented.
Lydia’s participation at the Society of Legal Scholars Conference was generously supported by the AHSS Faculty Research Fund.
