Working in partnership with An Garda Síochána, the School of Law at the University of Limerick (UL) is currently in the process of delivering the ‘Policing and Human Rights in Ireland’ module (LA4009) to approximately 585 staff within An Garda Síochána. We are delighted and proud to report that thus far this exciting and important module has garnered excellent feedback from participants within An Garda Síochána of all ranks and grades. This level 8 micro-credentials module is a bespoke training programme for An Garda Síochána, which has been accredited by UL. It is delivered online in an asynchronous format and provides participants with an introduction to the workings and jurisprudence of the European Convention on Human Rights, particularly as it relates to policing in Ireland. It is a co-curricular module, which has involved excellent weekly contributions from both UL staff and senior management within An Garda Síochána.
