News UK and Ireland Internships
Congratulations to Dara O’Brien and Siobhan Comyns who have both been offered paid internships by News UK and Ireland. The Mark Sinclair Internship will allow the students to work with Hugh Hannigan Editorial Legal Counsel of News UK and Ireland in January 2020. News UK and Ireland publish The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times. As part of the internship competition the students wrote on the topic of 'Does Ireland need statutory guidelines as to the amounts that can be awarded to defamation claimants?' Applicants were then shortlisted for interview in News UK and Ireland’s office in Dublin. Dr Norah Burns Co-Director of Clinical Legal Education in the School of Law organised the internship competition with Hugh Hannigan of News UK and Ireland.
