The School of Law was delighted to recently welcome a number of delegates from Sichuan University, China to the University of Limerick. The delegates, including Mr Yan Shijing  (Vice President) and Mr Guan Ping (Vice Dean, International Office), met with UL representatives including Professor Paul McCutcheon (Vice President Academic and Registrar) and Professor Shane Kilcommins (School of Law) during their stay.
The University of Limerick and Sichuan University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to formally launch collaborative programmes between the two universities.  In particular, the MOU will see the introduction of a new articulation programme in law, the 3+1.  This new 3+1 programme, which is specific to the School of Law at UL, will allow students from Sichuan University to transfer to UL for their undergraduate/postgraduate study.
The new agreement encourages student exchange between both institutions and the benefit of the collaboration will be seen as early as this summer with 10 UL School of Law students travelling to China to attend a two-week International University Immersion Programme at Sichuan University.  The students will be accompanied by Dr Kathryn O’Sullivan, School of Law at UL, who will teach on the programme.
Sichuan University is one of China’s leading universities and is a key high-level comprehensive research university under Project 985 and Project 211.
