Launch of the Mark Sinclair Internship Competition
On Monday the 1st of October Hugh Hannigan Editorial Legal Counsel for News UK and Ireland launched the Mark Sinclair internship competition in the Appellate Court Room in UL. Mr Hannigan gave a lecture on “Does Ireland need statutory guidelines as to the amounts that can be awarded to defamation claimants?” Following the lecture Mr Hannigan launched the Mark Sinclair Internship Competition. The competition is named after the former Irish in-house Counsel for News UK and Ireland, who passed away in 2013. The author of the winning essay will intern with News UK and Ireland for two weeks in 2020. The intern will work with the teams producing the Irish Times and the Irish Sun newspapers.
