Kate Fleming Prize 2018

The fourth annual Kate Fleming Mediation Competition was held on Thursday April 5th 2018 in UL. The event, hosted by the School of Law and the Graduate Entry Medical School, saw nineteen students from law and medicine come together in inter-disciplinary teams to settle a claim of medical negligence. Many congratulations to the members of the winning team:  Ravenna Patel(Medicine); Bridget Howard (Law); Clodagh Dunne (Law) and Evana Lyons (Law).

The event was judged by Mr. Jack Nicholas, (Barrister, Mediator and Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Law); Prof. James O’Hare (Dr. James O’Hare, Consultant Endocrinologist  and lead of Professional Competencies in Year 3 and 4, GEMS); Dr. Mary Tumelty (expert in medical negligence litigation and mediation); and Eimear Spain (Senior Lecturer in Medical Law).  This competition provided a fantastic opportunity for interdisciplinary learning and proved to be an extremely enjoyable event!
