The School of Law would like to congratulate Lucy M. Davis on being awarded the John and Pauline Ryan PhD Research Postgraduate Scholarship. Lucy is a PhD student in the School of Law under the supervision of Dr John Lombard and the title of her thesis is “A normative approach to ethical decision making at the end of life: the legal and ethical framework for ‘do not resuscitate’ orders.”

In 2000 the Chairman of Macrovision, Mr John Ryan and his wife Pauline endowed a postgraduate scholarship programme. The John and Pauline Ryan PhD Research Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded by the University of Limerick Graduate School. The Scholarship is open to all disciplines and is awarded to an academically exceptional student who has completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Limerick. The successful applicant may be either an existing or new research postgraduate student and a preference is given to students born and residing in County Tipperary. The application is assessed based upon the demonstrated academic accomplishments of the applicant and the quality of the research proposal.
