Dr Laura Donnellan contributed a chapter on the Impact of Covid-19 on British Horse Racing to an edited collection titled Time Out: National Perspectives on Sport and the Covid-19 Lockdown. The book was recently published by Common Ground, a US based publisher. Dr Donnellan’s chapter explores the cessation of horse racing from March 2020 to its resumption on 1 June 2020 and the actions of the regulatory bodies to ensure that horse racing was ready to re-start from the day it ceased. Horse racing provided an interesting case study as the horses had to be fed, exercised and shod. The grooms and veterinary surgeons continued to look after the horses. Unlike other sports, this could not be carried out remotely. For more information on the book, see https://doi.org/10.18848/978-1-86335-232-1/CGP
