Garda National Youth Awards
Shane Kilcommins acted as an assessor for the Garda National Youth Awards in Portlaoise onSaturday 23rd March 2019. The awards recognise the achievements and contributions of young people in their communities. Awards were considered for nominated young people who, by their presence, make their communities or society in general, a better place to live in. There are also awards for groups of two or more young people whose combined efforts contributed positively to their communities or others in general. Special Achievement awards were also available for young people who have defied the odds or overcome difficulties during their lives, and a Community Safety Award was presented to individuals that had made their community a safer place to live through a crime prevention or safety initiative or innovation.
