AI software provider, Neota Logic and leading law firm, McCann FitzGerald have begun a partnership with the School of Law in UL  to deliver the first-ever third-level legal tech course in Ireland. Final year law students are now undertaking the course and the feedback from them is very positive. In what is a first for the legal industry and legal education in Ireland, students will have the opportunity to learn how to design, build and test digital legal solutions using the Neota Logic System. Limerick Chamber has been very helpful in acting as ‘client’ and suggesting areas of law and compliance with which Apps could help.

Sinead Eaton, Commercial and Company Law Lecturer at the University of Limerick said, “We’re delighted to partner with Neota Logic and McCann FitzGerald. Our aim is to provide our students with a progressive curriculum that will develop their skills and prepare them for the modern workplace. The introduction of this module, a first in Ireland, is testament to that commitment and will provide our law graduates with the skills they need to pursue careers in an ever-evolving industry.”

In April , the Apps will be launched and judges including Dr. Hugh O’Donnell of Ingenium, Mr Josh Hogan , Partner in McCann Fitzgerald Solicitors (UL alumnus) and Ms. Aisling Curtis, Director of Microsoft Ireland will choose a winner from the set of apps ready to be deployed for their “client”.

The University of Limerick is one of three law schools in Europe, including the University of Manchester and London South Bank University, that will be running modules using the Neota Logic System beginning this spring. The three will join the ranks of over a dozen law schools globally to run legal tech modules with Neota Logic.
