On Wednesday Dr Laura Cahillane had an op-ed in the Irish Times which pointed out some gaps in the Judicial Council legislation and explained that the process for removing a judge remains unclear. She pointed out various difficulties involved and explained that the recent codes published by the Judicial Council have not clarified matters. The article follows the publication of a report co-authored by Dr Cahillane and published by the Irish Council for Civil Liberties which examines the progress of the Judicial Council, particularly with regard to Judicial education, conduct and ethics.
