Last weekend the Citizens’ Assembly published what have been referred to as ‘ground-breaking’ recommendations on aspects of gender equality in our society. One of the recommendations was to replace Article 41.2 of the Constitution (the so-called woman in the home provision) with a gender neutral alternative requiring the state to provide a reasonable level of support for carers. Dr Cahillane had acted as an expert and assisted the Assembly in their deliberations. She was quoted in articles in the Irish Examiner on Friday https://t.co/oskkeOfD09?amp=1 , and in the Journal on Saturday: https://t.co/bcLbdJ5wEI?amp=1 , ahead of the publication of the recommendations and on Tuesday the Irish Times published an opinion piece by Dr Cahillane explaining some background to this issue and why the Assembly’s recommendations are significant: https://t.co/pkPWfvF4LQ?amp=1
