Children and Family Relationships Act lecture

The Law School at the University of Limerick was delighted to welcome Dr. Geoffrey Shannon, Special Rapporteur on Child Protection on Monday 20th April 2015. Dr. Shannon gave a lecture on the Children & Family Relationships ActChildren and Family Relationships Act 2015, outlining the key changes and the practical implications of the legislation. Dr. Susan Leahy, Lecturer in Law at the University of Limerick spoke about the changes for unmarried fathers and the forthcoming Marriage Equality Referendum and Dr. Connie Healy, also of the Law School at UL, spoke about the new enforcement provisions under the Act. The event was chaired by Judge Tom O’ Donnell and was attended by over 70 practitioners. Also present were the Honourable Mr. Justice Michael Moriarty, Judge Mary Larkin and Judge Marie Keane.

Dr. Shannon is soon to be to be appointed Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Limerick.
