Hello and welcome to the University of Limerick Counselling Service web page.
The Counselling Service is a professional psychological service available to students to assist them on their progress through University life, with all of its incumbent stresses and strains.
Many personal decisions are made and problems solved though discussions with friends or family, a College Tutor or Director of Studies or a nurse, GP or chaplain. However, there are times when it may be right to seek help away from the familiar daily environment.
Our service has a team of professionally trained and widely experienced male and female psychotherapists, counsellors and a clinical psychologist, who are used to helping people from many different backgrounds and cultures and with a wide range of personal issues.
These webpages have information which you may find useful. Have a browse through the various workshops we will be offering over the next semester and find a timetable of our well-being and resiliency programme. If you have any questions about counselling or if you would like to pick up one of our information leaflets please call the Counselling Service in room CM073 of the Main Building. The Counselling service is located in C Block on level M. A easy way to find us is to enter the Brian Merriman tower to the right of the main reception, go up two flights of stairs to level M and take a right when exiting the stairway, the Counselling Service waiting room is straight in front of you at the top of this corridor. If you are having trouble finding your way around the Main Building this video may help you.
Wishing you good mental health,
Dr Declan Aherne - Head of Counselling
